Dark Blue Jeans

Dark blue jeans sit in the useful space between casual and smart-casual. They dress up easier than light wash and pair with almost any colour on top. The indigo depth is what makes them work — don't compromise on it.

Our take on dark blue jeans

Fabric

Rigid 100% cotton denim holds its shape and colour the longest. Up to 2% elastane is fine — go higher and the indigo dulls fast.

Durability

Dark jeans hide wear better than light wash. Cold wash inside out and they'll hold colour for 3-4 years easily. Never tumble dry.

Look for

  • deep indigo dye with no pre-fading
  • reinforced crotch stitching
  • fabric weight above 300gsm

Avoid

Pre-distressed dark jeans — the artificial fading looks cheap within one season and you can't reverse it.

Don't wear to

Black tie events or formal weddings. Dark jeans can pass in smart-casual settings but the fabric structure gives them away up close.
